Whale and dolphin watching are life-changing experiences for many people. The Atlantic Ocean waters off South Africa are home to a diverse range of marine creatures, and Hout Bay is uniquely positioned to see many of them in their natural habitat.
There’s nothing more exciting than seeing real wildlife in one of the most stunning bays in the world. We have whales, dolphins and seals visiting regularly, and we are uniquely positioned to be the only boat operator that can get you out to see them as soon as they appear.
It truly is an amazing experience — and one to tick off your bucket list.
The Gemini
2x Suzuki 200
Our boat is a CAWSAW 8.5m Gemini semi-rigid RIB, with twin Suzuki 200 four-stroke engines. It complies with all the regulations set by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA).
She carries up to 10 passengers and is always on standby to get you out to the sea life as quickly as possible, the moment they’re spotted in the bay.

- Two-way radio
- Life jackets
- First aid kit
- Flares
Everyone has a front-row seat
Your safety is paramount to us. There’s no upper age limit — the only restriction is that children should be within the 7–14 years guidance. All passengers should be able to reach the handrails and hold on firmly. Passengers under 18 must have an adult sign the indemnity on their behalf.

We went on the adventure tour from Hout Bay harbour in the Captain Jacks speedboat. Being a Hout Bay local I thought I had seen all there was to see in the bay… I was proven so wrong.
The whales were absolutely spectacular! A truly life-changing experience which will stay with me forever. Can’t wait to get back out there!
Take your adrenaline-junky friends with you and have the time of your life. We cruised past Chapman’s Peak, Seal Island and the working harbour — then sped around the bay on a 2-metre swell!
